Togher athletes had another busy weekend competing at the National Senior Indoor T&F championships in Belfast and the Munster Juvenile Indoor T&F championships in Nenagh.
At the National Senior Indoor championships in Belfast the club had a very successful outing winning two national titles. Robert Heffernan set the ball rolling taking an easy win in the men’s 5km walk in 19.23. This was Roberts 11th straight National title. Tim Healy also competed in the walk finishing in a time of 24.31. Ronan Foley lined up in his first ever senior indoor championships and raced well in the 60m in a time of 8.09. Eoin O’ Sullivan had a solid run in the men’s 3000m finishing in a time of 9.04 a new personal best. Performance of the weekend came from Marian Andrews as she won her 400m heat with ease in 54.52 and dominated the final winning the National title in style with a new indoor PB of 54.20.
At the Munster Juvenile Indoor T&F championships in Nenagh Robert O’ Neill collected yet another Munster title winning the u17 walk in 7.52. Robert will now represent the club in the All-Ireland championships in March.
The action switches to cross-county next week with the Munster Schools Cross-Country championships taking place in Tramore Racecourse on Thursday and the National Intermediate Cross-Country championships in Tymon Park Dublin next Sunday.
