IAAF Race Walking / Ballyandreen 5 Mile Road

Togher athletes were in action over the weekend at the IAAF Race Walking challenge in Poland and the Ballyandreen 5 Mile Road race in East Cork.
Robert Heffernan recorded another PB and Irish road record when he finished sixth in the 10k at the IAAF Race Walking Challenge in Krakow Poland. He walked to a time of 39.21 and was happy with his performance, with all the top 6 finishing close together.
At the 1st race of the Ballycotton 5 mile series, Donal Coakley was first man home for the club in 12th place in a fine time of 27.38 on a tough hilly course. Patrick Murphy had a great run also to finish 13th in 27.45 and Steven Macklin finished 25th in 28.46.
Next weekend sees ten of the clubs young athletes compete at the All-Ireland Schools T&F championships in Tullamore on Saturday. Some young athletes also compete at the Munster u12-u15 T&F championships in Castleisland on Sunday. Best of luck to all.
