Weekend Report
Date: 4/11/10
Togher athletes competed at the Cork County Senior & Junior Cross-Country championships on Sunday and it proved to be a great day for the club. The club won the junior team title and was 2nd in the senior team battle. Peter Hanrahan also won the junior individual title.
The course for the county senior & junior cross-country was a testing one with some wet patches and a long steep hill. The junior men were first into action and here Peter Hanrahan was an easy winner of the 6km event running away from all the others. He was followed home by Alan O Brien 7th, Mark Seacy 8th, Brian Murray 9th, Cillian Fleming 10th, Adam Kelleher 11th and Rob Long 12th. In the senior 10km race Eoin O Sullivan led the team home with a great 6th place finish and he was followed home closely by Donal Coakley 7th, Shane Coffey 9th, Timmy Murphy 14th, Steven Macklin 21st, Dan Weaver 24th and Pa Murphy 26th. The team came 2nd just 10 point behind East Cork.
Well done to all and best of luck to all competing at the Munster Juvenile & Intermediate Cross-Country championships next Sunday in Charleville.
