Weekend Report
Date: 29/9/07
Togher athletes were to the fore on the roads last weekend with two great performances. In the Berlin Marathon Dan Weaver ran an outstanding race to finish 419th in a time of 2.49.57. This was a great new personal best for Dan and augurs well for the season ahead. Dan also had the added benefit of participating in the same race as Haile Gebreselassie who broke the world record with a time of 2.04.26. The annual Cork to Cobh 15 mile road race also took place last weekend. Here Toghers Colin Merritt had a superb race winning in a time of 82.20. Colin got away from Wielslaw Sosnowski in the last 200m to win by just seven seconds after 15 miles of racing. He leaves next week for Hyderabad in India where he will be part of the Irish Army team at the World Military Games. All at Togher AC would like to wish Colin and Dave Doherty the best of luck in India.
