South Munster Schools Cross-Country championships
Date: 29/1/10
Togher athletes competed today at the South Munster Schools Cross-Country championships held at Cork IT grounds. Douglas CS had a very successful day taking home 4 of the 5 cups on offer and winning 3 of the 4 team titles. The Douglas CS minor team took gold led by great runs from Jack O Mahony 2nd, Liam Harris 3rd, Kevin Horan 4th and Alan Horgan 5th. The "B" team came 3rd also. The junior team finished a fine 3rd led by Brendan Couch in 4th place and great runs by Daniel Mason, Eric O Neill and Paul Lehane.
The Inter team were without the services of their leading 5 athletes who race in Italy this weekend, but still won the team title with ease. James Kelleher led them home in 7th place with other fine runs from David Kelly 8th, Conor Foley 9th and Billy Murphy 10th. Ian Hartnett finished 3rd representing Colaiste Daibheid, not having one of his better days but will no doubt bounce back for the Munster championships in four weeks time. Finally in the senior race Peter Hanrahan had an easy win and he was backed up well by Brian Murray 4th, Alan O Brien 6th and Adam Kelleher 7th. The team easily won the team title. Douglas CS also won the overall team title. Well done to all who competed.
