Weekend Report
Date: 28/6/08
Togher athletes competed at the Tailteann Schools Interprovincial games and at the BMC Grand Prix in Solihull this weekend. The Tailteann Games were held in Santry and here the club were represented by Brian Murray and Conor O’ Brien. Both athletes performed well but with the high-class field in the 800m it proved to be a very difficult race. Congratulations to Michael O’ Sullivan however who came a fantastic 3rd in a new PB of 1.59.
At the BMC grand Prix in Solihull Craig Murphy lined up in his 2nd ever 5000m having ran 14.53 last year. Craig has had a tough couple of months with the Leaving Cert exams but showed these were well and truly behind him with a great run. Craig paced himself well through out the race and eventually finished 3rd in 14.39 a big new PB. Craig aims to run his fastest times in July and looks set to run fast over 3000m then. His next race is in Gent Belgium over 3000m on July 13th.
Robert Heffernan is at present in his final preparation for the Olympics at a training camp in Font Romeau. All indications are that Robert is training well and should be in action at the National championships on July 20th.
