Togher juvenile athletes completed their track season at day 3 of the u14-u19 T&F championships held in Tullamore today. Peter Hanrahan and Ian Hartnett took home a pair of silver medals in the 1500m and Robert O' Neill won gold in the u18 5km walk.
Six of the clubs athletes took part in day 3 of the All-Ireland u14-u19 T&F championships in Tullamore today producing some great results. In the u15 1500m Alan Ring improved on his 12th place lasy year to finish in 9th place in a superb new PB of 4.46. In the u17 1500m Ian Hartnett had a great run for 2nd place with Emmet Bracken 5th. Cullen Lynch led the u18 1500m in the early stages and after a slow opening 2 laps there was a big sprint for the line in the final lap with Cullen coming a great 7th. In the u19 1500m Peter Hanrahan ran a superb race to come 2nd in 4.04. Finally Robert O Neill walked his way to a great win in the u18 5km walk. Well done to all and enjoy the well earned rest.
At the Chruchtown South 5 mile road race on Thursday night Donal Coakley was a superb 8th in 26.51 with Patrick Murphy 11th in 26.52.
Finally best of luck to Robert Heffernan and Marian Heffernan who both compete at the European athletics championships in Barcelona next week. Robert takes part in the mens 20km walk on Tuesday morning 7.05am Irish time with Marian taking part in the 4*400m relay later in the week. All at the club would like to wish them both the very best of luck.
