Varsity T&F championships

Togher athletes had a very productive day at the Varsity T&F championships at the weekend. Held at a wet and wind swept UL, the club won two medals in the race walk. Tim Healy continues to make huge strides in the race walking event taking All-Ireland gold winning in a time of 13.55.20. Mark Dineen also walked well in his first race in a long time taking the silver medal in 16.16.00. Peter Fennell put in another superb performance in the 1500m coming 11th in 4.06.30 another huge PB. Finally Donal Coakley lined up in the 5000m to finish a fine 12th. Togher athletes helped their colleges UCC and CIT come 4th and 5th respectively in the points table. Well done to all.
Next weekend will be a busy one for the club with the South Munster Schools T&F championships taking place on Saturday, the Cork County u14-u19 T&F championships on Sunday and the Munster Junior, u23 and Senior T&F championships taking place on Monday. Best of luck to all athletes competing.
