Weekend Report

It has been a busy few days on the competition front for the club with athletes competing at the John Buckley 5km Road Race in Cork, the Munster u16-u19 T&F championships at Cork IT and at the European Team championships in Hungary.
At the John Buckley BHAA 5km road race Togher athletes produced some outstanding performances with Tony Kelleher leading the club home in 5th place in a huge new PB of 15.48. Behind him Donal Coakley also ran a PB of 16.00 for 12th and Patrick Muprhy 16.13 for 16th place.
The Munster u16-u19 T&F championships were held in glorious sunshine at Cork IT at the weekend with some great peformances by our young athletes. In the u16 800m Eoin Bourke was 5th and Billy Murphy 6th. In the u16 1500m Billy Murphy was a superb 3rd with Eoin Bourke 5th. In the u16 3000m Brendan Couch ran a great race to take 2nd place. Emmet Bracken ran to an easy win in the u17 1500m and followed this up with a 3rd place finish in the 800m. James Kelleher had a great run to take 3rd in the u17 1500m and Peter Hanrahan won the u19 1500m. Ian Tobin got over his schools disappointment with his first ever Munster title winning the u17 3000m with ease. In the u18 800m Cullen Lynch had a fine run for 4th in a new PB of 2.00 and Peter Hanrahan won the u19 800m.
At the European Team championships in Hungary Marian Andrews ran a great race to win her 400m race and was also a big part of the Irish 4*400m relay team.
Well done to all the athletes on some outstanding performances.
