Togher athletes continued their remarkable track season at the weekend, with superb results at the Schools International T&F Championships in Antrim and at the last day of the All-Ireland u14-u19 T&F Championships in Tullamore.
At the Schools International Patrick Coleman Douglas CS took to the line in the 1500m steeplechase and produced his greatest track run to date. He finished a superb 3rd in a new personal best of 4.35.42. Patrick has had a superb season and has represented Ireland twice this year.
At the u14-u19 National Championships in Tullamore the clubs younger athletes continued their recent PB performances. In the u14 1500m Alan Ring came a fine 12th, in the u16 1500m Ian Hartnett had a superb run to come 5th just outside his PB with 4.24 and Emmet Bracken ran his best ever race to date finishing 6th in a new PB of 4.26. In the u17 1500m Cullen Lynch was 10th in 4.25 with Mark Seacy 13th in a new PB. In the u18 1500m Brian Murray was not at his best but ran solid to finish 8th in 4.18. Finally in the u19 1500m Alan O Brien came 8th in a new PB and in the u17 3km walk Robert O Neill had a super race to come 2nd in a new PB of 14.50. Congratulations to all the clubs younger athletes on a superb track season, they can all now enjoy a well earned break.
