Weekend Report

It was a busy weekend for Togher athletes on the track with athletes competing at the Leevale Open Sports at Cork IT and at the Larry Ellis Memorial Invitaion in America. Our seven young athletes and Coach Steven Macklin and Head of Delegation Mark Dineen also made it to Slovakia for the World Schools Cross-Country championships which take place on Wednesday 10am Irish time.
At the Leevale Open Sports Eoin O Sullivan produced a great run to finish 6th in the 3000m in a new PB of 8.56 with great runs also by Donal Coakley, Patrick Murphy, Rob O' Neill, Cillian Fleming and John Dorgan. In the 100m Ronan Foley and Liam O' Brien opened up their seasons with fine performances and in the 800m Conor Foley and Peter Hanrahan ran very well. In the u17 1500m Ian Hartnett was 3rd with Emmet Bracken 4th. In the boys u14 800m Luke varian was a fine 4th and in the u15 800m Alan Ring was a superb winner with Jamie O' Connell 3rd. Finally in the u16 800m Eoin Bourke ran very well to take 4th place.
At the Larry Ellis Memorial Invitaion in New Jersey Craig Murphy produced a fine run over 1500m with a time of 3.51. He competes at the famous Penn Relays this weekend in the 5000m and Usain Bolt competes in a 4*100m relay there. All at the club would like to wish him the very best of luck.
Our World Schools Cross-Country championship team arrived safely in Slovakia after 14 hours on a ferry and 2250km of driving. The race takes place Wednesday 21st April at 10am Irish time. Best of luck to all.
