Weekend Report
Date: 21/2/10
Togher athletes had another busy weekend competing at the National Intermediate Cross-Country championships in Roscommon, the MAAC Indoor T&F championships in New York and a Mile challenge at Cork IT track.
At Lough Key Forest park in Boyle Co. Roscommon our intermediate mens team performed very well having only four starters due to injuries of other team members. The course was mainly flat with good running and was held over 8km instead of 10km. Eoin O Sullivan led the team home with a superb run in 18th place and other great runs came from Donal Coakley 33rd, Pa Murphy 53rd and Tony Kelleher 71st.
At the 2010 MAAC Indoor T&F championships at New Yorks Armory center, Craig Murphy followed up on his recent indoor PB over 3000m with a mile PB running 4.13 for 5th place. Craig was also part of the winning Iona College DMR team, leading them off on the 1200m leg.
At Cork IT on Friday some of the clubs young athletes took part in a Mile Challenge as part of their preparation for the Munster Schools Cross-Country championships next Friday. Jack O Mahony was the winner of the 1st year race in 5.34, with Liam Harris 2nd 5.38, Kevin Horan 4th 5.42 and Jamie O Connell 4th 5.43. Cullen Lynch won the older race in 4.50 with Ian Tobin 2nd and Mark Seacy 3rd.
