Date: 20/9/09

Togher athletes had a very successful weekend having their pre season training camp at Banna Beach and competing at the Kinsale Open Cross-Country. The clubs new u13 & u14 recruits took part in the Kinsale Open Cross-Country event and came away with the team title. Some of the athletes were competing up an age as only even age races were run on the day. Racing u14 over 1500m, the new athletes did superb with the "A" team 1st and the "B" team 3rd. Jack O Mahony was dominant from the start striding away to win easily and he was well supported by Liam Harris, Johnathon O Connell and Jamie O Connell. Congratulations to all on some superb performances.

All the clubs u15-u19 athletes travelled to Banna Beach Co. Kerry for their pre season training camp under the guidance of coach Steven Macklin. A fantasic weekend was had by all and the athletes trained very well in the Banna sunshine. The team captains were voted in for the coming season, so congratulations to those selected, no doubt they will do a great job. A special thanks to all the athletes on their superb behaviour and dedication to training over the weekend. They all now look forward to the Cork Cross-Country championships on October 4th.
