Munster u12-u18/Novice/u23 Cross-Country

Togher athletes had a busy and successful weekend competing at the Munster u12-u18/Novice/u23 Cross-Country championships in Cork, the Gerry Farnan Cross-Country in Dublin and at the Brooks Pre National meet in America.
At the Munster u12-u18/Novice/u23 Cross-Country championships at Carrigadrohid the club had a very successful day. The u14 boys team were 2nd led by Liam Harris in 7th place and great runs from Jack O Mahony, James Gorton and Luke Varian. The u16 boys team were also 2nd led home by Billy Murphy in 6th place and there were fine performances from Eoin Bourke 12th, Brendan Couch 15th and Mike McLaughlin. The u18 team were easy team winners with 4 athletes in the top 5 with Danny Mullins 2nd, Patrick Coleman 3rd, Cullen Lynch 4th and Emmet Bracken 5th. In the Novice race Tony Kelleher led the club home in 9th place with Shane Coffey a superb 10th. The team finished a solid 5th missing some athletes and Shane Coffey was 2nd in the u23 race. Cork won the inter county race.
At the Gerry Farnan Cross-Country in the Phoenix Park in Dublin Eoin O Sullivan was a superb 38th and Donal Coakley 46th. Peter Hanrahan also had a fine run. The race was held over 5 miles on a flat fast circuit with Brendan O Neill DSD taking the individual win.
Craig Murphy lined up in Terra Haute Indiana at the Brooks Pre National Cross-Country meet for his college Iona. The race was over 8km and a dry run for the NCAA championships which take place on the same course over 10km on November 22nd. Craig finished a superb 35th covering the 8km course in 24.16 and helping his team Iona to a 2nd place finish. The race can be viewed here.
Well done to all the clubs athletes on a very successful weekend. The club has its 1st committee meeting of the new season this Tuesday at 8.30pm at the clubhouse.
