Weekend Report

Togher athletes received awards recently at the Cork AAI annual awards night held in the Vienna Woods hotel in Glanmire. Robert Heffernan, Marian Andrews and Craig Murphy all received awards in recognition of their international achievements.
Also this weekend the club traveled to Dungarvan to take part in the Munster Senior & Junior Cross-Country championships. The club fielded a team in the senior mens race and finished a very good 2nd. The team was led home by Eoin O' Sullivan and there were other outstanding runs by Tony Kelleher, Peter Fennell and Donal Coakley.
Also taking place this weekend was the Celtic International Cross-Country event in Wales. The races took place in the superb Bute Park in Cardiff. Dan King from Donegal who is coached by Steven Macklin had a great run in the Junior mens 6.2km race. He was the 2nd Irish man across the line in what was his first race of the season.
Tony Kelleher has been in outstanding form of late and proved this with a superb win at the All-Ireland Masters Indoor T&F championships at Nenagh recently. Tony lined up in the mens over 35 800m and won the race in style taking the All-Ireland title in a time of 2.05 well clear of the 2nd place finisher. Congratulations Tony on a superb win.
