Munster Senior & Junior Cross-Country championships

Togher athletes enjoyed another successful day at the Munster Senior & Junior Cross-Country championships held in Carraig Na Bhfear today. Although the teams were without some key members they still performed admirably.
In the junior mens 6000m race the club had only four athletes compete with the rest of the juniors focusing on training for the moment, with the schools championships approaching. Peter Hanrahan had a fine race to finish 3rd and he was ably assisted by Alan O Brien 15th, John Dorgan 17th and Rob Long 26th. The team finished a good 2nd.
In the senior mens 10000m race the team were without a number of members but ran very well to finish in 4th place. Peter Fennell led the team home in 12th place and there were other great runs from Eoin O’ Sullivan 14th, Donal Coakley 17th and Patrick Murphy 35th.
At the National Junior Indoor T&F championships on Saturday Robert O Neill finished a fine 4th in the 3km walk, in his first race of the season. No doubt he will improve as the season progresses.
