There were some great performances by Togher athletes in cross-country races across the water this weekend. Both Tony Kelleher and Craig Murphy were in action in England and Boston respectively. At the British & Irish Masters international cross-country event in Birmingham, Tony Kelleher was a superb 17th in the over 40 category and 5th Irish man home. Tony helped the Irish team take the silver medals in the team event.
In Boston Craig Murphy had a solid run to finish 37th at the North East Regional Cross-Country championships covering the 10km course in 32 mins. This was Craigs first ever 10km race and conditions were extemely tough with rain and lots of muck. Craig helped his team Iona college to come 2nd, narrowly beaten by 4 points for the team title. Craig and his Iona team now head for Terre Haute Indiana for the NCAA Cross-Country championships which take place on Monday 23rd November. All at the club would like to wish him the very best of luck.
Congratulations also to Kieran Ryan who won the Cork Intermediate Cross-Country title in Bandon yesterday. Kieran is running very well at present and won a great title here on a tough course.
