Cork County Senior & Junior Cross-Country championships
Date: 1/11/09
The Cork County Senior & Junior Cross-Country championships took place today on a tough course at the Clonakilty showgrounds. Weather conditions were not ideal with rain, wind and mud the order of the day. The junior mens race over 5000m proved to be an easy win for the team with Brian Murray 3rd, Rob O Shea 5th, Alan O Brien 6th, Adam Kelleher 8th and Rob Long 10th. All the rest of the Togher juniors rested up today for the Munster championships next Sunday. The Senior race over 10000m proved to be a great team battle between East Cork, Leevale and Togher. Peter Fennell led the team home in a superb 4th place with Eoin O Sullivan a great 5th. Third man home was Steven Macklin in 14th with Donal Coakley completing the scoring in 15th. Other great runs came from Tony Kelleher 17th, Shane Coffey 18th, Dan Weaver 19th and Pa Murphy 25th. The team title went to East Cork with Togher "A" team 3rd and the "B" team 4th. Well done to all who competed.
